Lemaire Opera Glasses

~Paris Mother-of-Pearl and white metal over brass

$165.00

These wonderful opera glasses have a "K B" insignia inside a triangle, which is the specific hallmark of Baille-Lemaire (or M.J.B. Baille), who officially joined the famed Lemaire manufacturing firm in 1871 and took full control of operations in 1885. Lemaire was one of the best opera glass manufactures and their quality is still apparent when compared to modern copies made by lesser companies. Visible on the bridge between the eyepieces is small "H", most likely the owner's own initial. The peach-colored mother-of-pearl is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or raised areas. The white metal shows normal use with brass visible underneath. Both eyepieces show the renowned hallmark bees and are marked, "LEMAIRE FABT PARIS".
