Three Ancients in one (Standard)

Here in Pennsylvania, during colonial times, we were blessed with design and craft that rivaled any in the world. As that moved beyond Philadelphia, some might say the craft remained strong, but the design became less regimented. 

The game box originated in the 1100s for the purpose of concealment (passing for books), as certain games became illegal now and again. By the 1700s, rich examples are hiding nothing, showing great beauty in their craft and materials.

This game was designed utilizing the Fleur-de-lis or "flower of the lily," which has often symbolized life, power, or royalty. The backgammon triangles are this westerner's rendering of an early Arabic design from which backgammon originated. The craft is meant to be west of Philadelphia. Meaning, while still incredibly well made with excellent joinery, it is not necessarily made for the highborn. The design work is not inlays of gold or pearl; it is art done with stencils. The wood is solid; no plywood or modern materials are used. The chess pieces are solid wood as well; they are weighted and have felt bottoms. The checker or backgammon pieces are wood (but I am waiting for that custom order of horn pieces). Lastly, the dice are made from horn, and the overall dimensions are 17 by 17 inches when open. 8.5 x 17 x 3.5 when closed.

The difference between the standard and deluxe boards is the size and style of the chess pieces.
